Presentation Abstract

Sym
Author: Dr. Helen Barrett, University of Alaska, Anchorage & ISTE, USA

This symposium will draw together several teacher education programs implementing electronic portfolios to address some key questions around implementation. For the last two years, ISTE’s PT3 Catalyst Grant has been providing training and technical assistance to Teacher Education programs, to help them implement electronic portfolios. The invited participants will discuss the electronic portfolio development process, the dilemmas involved in the decisions about implementation, the differences between electronic portfolios and assessment management systems. Several of the papers will present rubrics for evaluating approaches to developing e-portfolios, informed by work products of national meetings on electronic portfolios sponsored by Educause/NLII and AAHE in 2002 and the first international conference on the ePortfolio in 2003.
