A critical mission of higher education is to produce productive global
citizens that are dedicated to developing a just, equitable and sustainable
society. How can we introduce to our first-year through the senior-year
college students the best practices for developing a global mindset in
preparation for their future leadership roles?
One academic solution is the production of an e-portfolio, which encompasses
a reflective or private portfolio for self-reflection on learning and
transformational thinking on global issues and the production of a best
of show portfolio or public portfolio, to begin conversations to connect
and make a positive difference in the world. With the sophisticated development
and rhetorical implication of technology, the e-portfolio is an efficient
mode of delivery and an effective method of pedagogy for the designer
and the intended reader. E-portfolios are used as a reflective tool and
as an effective means for initiating conversations and actions with others
about the value of developing an international perspective and becoming
a more responsible global citizen. View of our academic scholarship on ePortfolios and the foliothinking process embracing our global citizenship mission.
